Renewed Life Up On The Wall

Filling my cup.

The first time I ever did a wall climb I was in 4th grade. We were on an overnight trip to the ELC (@wolfridgeelc) in Ely, MN. I was small and watched as my classmates repeatedly made it to the top of the wall and rang the bell.

I don’t remember the climb anymore. What I do remember was that I when I did finally reach the top, I was crying with relief and pride that I rang the bell too.

My neighbor is an avid climber. And listening to her talking about climbing has got me thinking about it again.

Earlier this week, she invited me to go with her to @verticalendeavors. Mind you the last time I had done any kind of climbing was about 10 years ago when I free climbed our ash tree up about 40-50 feet to rescue our cat (but that’s a totally different story).

My first climb felt great, but I was terrified to let go at the top and repel down. @climbsandbikes cheered me on, and every time I did it, I felt a little more confident.

You are NEVER too old to try something you loved as a kid again. Because that’s seriously what it felt like. It was SO exhilarating! I am sore, but in such a good way. Using muscles I haven’t in a while. But mentally, I LOVED the challenge. I cannot wait to go again.

Don’t be afraid to go for it!!!
