Lifting. If all the exercises I’ve tried, this was the first that I found really changed how I looked.
I’ve always had a small physique. Girls in high school would accuse me of being anorexic. I fortunately did not suffer from anorexia, but the comments hurt me none the less.
I actually loved the grunge look because it helped hide how small I was. Or at least it felt just a little less obvious.
Gaining weight only came with unhealthy food choices or pregnancy. Neither of which are sustainable in the long term.
But lifting, while it didn’t make me bigger, it did make me stronger. I could feel it. I could see it. My walking gait changed. I stood up taller. I felt more confident because I felt physically powerful.
With that knowledge of all the positive effects it has for me, I’m recommitting to 4 days a week of lifting.
I mostly enjoy working out in general (more often *after* the workout). But lifting has a special place in my heart.
What are your go-to moves that make you feel good? I love having new ideas on the days I don’t lift ?
